Overview and FAQ
Work Placement
The work experience portion of the course runs for 16 weeks at the end of the course. The employer is not expected to finance the trainee on experience. The trainee will receive a training allowance (if applicable) while on experience.
The experience provides the trainee with the opportunity to put into practice what they have learned as well as continue their learning in the real world environment.
There are a number of employeers engaged with the programme at this point however the trainee should ideally arrange their own work experience.

Testimonials
For anybody looking to break into the IT industry, this course is an invaluable launching pad. The guidance and support I've received from tutor JP Kilbane has helped me to achieve a considerable amount of IT certification in a short space of time and it has given me the knowledge, confidence and competence to secure a Network Engineering Apprenticeship. Having worked as a general operative in construction for most of my life, this course has helped me pivot into an exciting, sustainable and lucrative career in the IT industry.
Well-delivered. Course content seems to relate well to knowledge needed on the job. Important soft skills for workplace highlighted at different times as well. A lot of it is common sense but maybe not immediately obvious to many doing the course who could have very little work experience or none in a corporate environment.
After being made redundant in 2018 having spent 10 years working in an Admin role in a local Software company, I decided to upskill by completing an IT course in the GRETB training centre. After completing the IT Helpdesk Fundamentals course, I can honestly say that I would highly recommend completing a training course in the GRETB. The tutors were very knowledgeable and extremely helpful which made it such an enjoyable and worthwhile 12 weeks and although the course itself was quite intensive I believe that I now have the knowledge and confidence to make the transition into the IT sector.
Doing this course got me a great solid foundation in the IT sector both for a job and educational purposes. I never thought IT could be this deep. I love the practical aspect so much. Fixing things and seeing them come alive gives me the bubbles. The online lab is full of great resources and tools that will suck you in if you don't like theories. You get to know the latest tech-devices and tools used in the world. Much thanks to JP Kilbane for being such a wonderful tutor and mentor. Also for his genuine kindness and support. After the 16 weeks work placement, I can genuinely say this course is a great asset and a great skill set to have even if you don't/have a leaving cert or university degree
